Family fun takes center stage at 2023 BBQ Fest on the Neuse with exciting rides and activities for kids

The annual BBQ Fest on the Neuse is returning to Downtown Kinston on May 5-6, 2023, and there's no shortage of fun activities for children to enjoy. With the largest whole hog cook-off in the world, over 150 vendors, and a variety of musical entertainment, this year's festival has something for everyone.

“We have got a lot of exciting activities going on,” said Waylon Adams, chairman of the BBQ Fest on the Neuse. “The carnival is going to be back for everyone to enjoy this year. We have the helicopter coming back.”

The carnival rides are back this year, offering fun and excitement for the whole family. From 10:00 am until 2:00 pm on Saturday, Disney Prince and Princess Characters will be meeting and greeting the children including Cinderella, Belle, Jasmine, Ursula, Rapunzel, Prince Charming, Prince Charming’s Steward, Gaston, Lumiere, and the King (Prince Charming’s Father). The Flimsy's Fun Zone will also be open, featuring bounce houses, giant slides, a dunk tank, a basketball game, a cotton candy machine, and more. The children’s events will be held at Pearson Park.

But the highlight for many children may be the laser light show, a dazzling display of lights and colors set to music. The show is sure to be a crowd-pleaser, and children of all ages are sure to love it.

Of course, no visit to the BBQ Fest on the Neuse would be complete without trying some of the delicious barbecue. Kids can try the famous Eastern North Carolina BBQ sandwich, or opt for a variety of other food options, including pizza, hot dogs, and funnel cakes.

Bring the kids and come out to the BBQ Fest on the Neuse for a weekend of fun and excitement from 10:00 am until 7:00 pm. With so many activities to choose from, it's sure to be a memorable experience for everyone.
