LCC's to hold Disaster Management Day

Lenoir Community College will be hosting a Disaster Management Day on Wednesday, March 29, as an opportunity for students in the Associate Degree Nursing, Practical Nursing, Surgical Technology, Radiography, Medical Assisting and EMS programs to practice their scopes of practice as they would during a mass casualty event.

Students from the Cosmetology Program will help prepare simulated patients for the event by using different make up and moulage techniques to make injuries appear as real as possible. EMS students will assess and treat patients on the scene of an accident then transfer them to the simulated hospital on campus where they will be cared for by Associate Degree Nursing, Practical Nursing, Surgical Technology, Radiography, and Medical Assisting students. ECU Health East Care will be landing a helicopter at Lenoir Community College with crew members aboard that will teach students about air medical transport.
