Grainger Stadium undergoing grandstand renovation ahead of 2024 Wood Ducks Season

The Kinston/Lenoir County Parks and Recreation Department recently announced on their Facebook page that renovations at the Grainger Stadium grandstand are progressing. The next phases of the upgrade process include sandblasting, sealing, and the reinstallation of seating areas.

Jon Clemmons, General Manager of the Down East Wood Ducks, expressed the department's enthusiasm about the improvements. "We are pleased the City of Kinston and our parks and recreation department are making grandstand renovations over the next couple of months prior to the upcoming season," Clemmons said. He added, “We anticipate an exciting 2024 season of Wood Ducks baseball and look forward to opening day on April 5, 2024! Season tickets are on sale and the promotional calendar will be released in the near future.”

The renovations come on the heels of a significant change for the Down East Wood Ducks. As reported in May 2023, the Texas Rangers announced the sale of both the Hickory Crawdads and Down East Wood Ducks to Diamond Baseball Holdings (DBH). DBH, an entity that operates a selection of Minor League clubs in affiliation with Major League Baseball (MLB), has assumed ownership and oversight of both teams.
