The following restaurant inspections were conducted by the Lenoir County Health Department:

El Mexicano 

5071 Potters Hill Road, Pink Hill 

Date: 12/02

Score: 91

Observations: 

No certified food protection manager present. 

Food employees do not wash hands after touching trash can and between changing tasks. 

Meats, raw and cooked, in fridge in open ziplock bags.  

Some foods not being kept at proper temperature. 

No stem tyre thermometer. 

Flies present. 

Bags of raw meats in contact with single service items. 

Ran out of water during inspection, but did not refill water tank until instructed to do so by EHS. 

No splashguard provided between hand wash sink and burners. 

No foods are date marked. 

Southeast Elementary School Cafeteria

Observations: 

Two cans on rack were dented. 

Sanitizer coming out of dispenser at 3-comp sink and in wiping cloth bucket was not strong enough. 

Test strips are expired. 

Juicers, inside of drawers, shelving, drain board beside sanitizer compartment, and ceiling vents need additional cleaning. 

Dumpster door open, both lids broke off. 

Walls and ceilings have peeling paint. 

Floor in front of walk-in cooler has cracked tiles.

Observations: 

Employees were not well versed in the employee health information. 

Facility does not have vomit/diarrhea cleanup plan. 

All lavatories need to be cleaned. 

Lower prep unit still not maintaining less than 41F. 

No sanitizer bucket solutions were made. 

Beverage Air fridge is not properly working and water is pooling in bottom. 

Clean the exterior of all equipment, clean inside of fridge and all shelving. 

Dumpster is open and needs a plug. 

Clean floor under equipment, floor drains, walls around and behind equipment. 

Raw chicken in freezer stored above vegetables.

Observations: 

Employee used sanitizer to wash hands at lavatory because. soap was out. 

Chicken breader was very crusted and soiled. 

A number of pans and utensils were soiled. 

Table tops, shelving, sausage presses, and sides of equipment from grease buildup need additional cleaning. 

Inside of 2-door fridge needs cleaning. 

Can wash inside is not draining. 

Dumpster door open. 

Dumpster pad has grease/scum buildup. 

Not enough light in can wash/utility room. 

Walls, ceilings, and vents need cleaning. 

Bojangles

Observations: 

Container of sliced lemons uncovered has cardboard box sitting on top of them. 

Pans for chicken batter that are stored in walk-in are still not being adequately cleaned. 

Ice machine interior needs cleaning.

Some staff have very long painted fingernails. Gloves need to be used. 

Wet wiping cloths were not in proper strength sanitizer solution. 

One door prep fridge has water pooling in bottom. 

Inside and outside of fridges need additional cleaning. 

Floor buildup under equipment needs to be cleaned. 

Mold on walk in ceiling needs cleaning. 


Bojangles

Score: 95.5

Observations: 

Lids have buildup on the, that is not being kept scrubbed off. 

Stem thermometer was out of calibration. 

The interior of the chicken walk-in door in badly rusted. 

Much equipment cleaning needed. 

Toilets need cleaning and all lavatories in kitchen need to be kept cleaned at least daily. 

Much aggressive floor cleaning needed. Walls need cleaning. 

Soda syrup leaking and running over storage area floor.
