The following restaurant inspections were conducted by the Lenoir County Health Department:

Olympian

601 W Vernon Avenue, Kinston

Date: 1/03

Score: 95.5

Observations:

Employee health policy did not include salmonella non-typhoidal.

Facility did not have policy for cleaning up vomit/diarrhea.

Employee touched ready to eat food with bare hands.

Some cold hold temps. were 42F-45F.

Meat sauce in walk in was not date marked.

Shelving, inside of reach-in freezer, and care need additional cleaning.

Some walls are in disrepair and some ceiling tiles are stained and cracking.


Vance's

3601 Hwy 55, Kinston

Observations:

No staff is a Certified Food Protection Manager.

Staff was putting together hamburger without gloves.

Raw shell egg left on counter for breakfast.

Chicken salad eight past seven day hold limit.

No sanitizer available.

No test strips available.

Do a better job of utensil washing.

Clean fridge handles, lower shelves on prep table, walk-in floor, seal seam, and biscuit station.

Enforce accurate date marking on ready to eat food products that will be held over 24 hours.

Keep foods covered in walk-in freezer.

Replace damaged gasket on walk-in freezer door.

Clean grease buildup from tops of all equipment, sides, inside of refrigeration and freezers, handles.

Clean floors under equipment and at oil center.

Clean walls and continue to work on ceiling.
