Kinston Community Health Center celebrates pharmacy Grand Opening with ribbon cutting

State Senator Jim Perry Will Attend Ceremony and Receive Award for Legislative Advocacy

To better meet patients’ needs, Kinston Community Health Center, Inc., established an in-house full-service pharmacy located within the health center at 324 N. Queen Street in Kinston. The pharmacy will celebrate its grand opening on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at 11:00 am. North Carolina State Senator Jim Perry will be in attendance.

Open Monday through Friday, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm and 1:00 – 6:00 pm, the Kinston Community Health Center pharmacy makes prescription medications more accessible to patients at an affordable cost. This pharmacy will play an integral role in enhancing patient therapies to achieve the best health outcomes for each patient.

The pharmacy is led by Bradley Trabookis, PharmD, a 2009 graduate from the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Trabookis works directly with physicians to manage patients’ prescription needs and ensures the pharmacy is well-stocked with hard-to-find prescriptions. The pharmacy accepts most insurance, including commercial insurance, Medicaid, and Medicare Part D.

North Carolina State Senator Jim Perry will be in attendance to celebrate the pharmacy grand opening. Senator Perry spearheaded efforts to pass the Medication Cost Transparency Act, a new law that protects pharmacies like Kinston’s so patients can afford their prescriptions through the 340B Drug Discount Program.

“We are so honored to be joined by civic and political leaders, including State Senator Jim Perry, to celebrate our pharmacy’s grand opening” said Anna C. Kinsey, Kinston Community Health Center’s Director of Community Development and Patient Support Programs. “Without the support of Senator Perry and legislators sharing the same vision, we would not be able to provide cost-effective medications to patients through the 340B Drug Discount Program.”

During the ribbon cutting ceremony, Senator Perry will receive the Community Health Advocate of the Year award from the North Carolina Community Health Center Association. The award recognizes his legislative leadership that helped ensure nearly 750,000 patients of North Carolina’s Community Health Centers can access the care and medications they need.

Both Kinston Community Pharmacy and Kinston Community Health Center are committed to providing high quality, affordable health care services in the communities where they are located. “The people of Kinston can look forward to great service, genuine care, and overall commitment to each customer,” said Dr. Trabookis, Kinston Community Health Center’s lead pharmacist.
