Greene County Sheriff's Office: Deputy assaulted-subject arrested

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office posted the following on their Facebook page:

On 07/10/2022 around 3:45 pm, the Greene County Sheriff's Office responded to a call for service at Ramblewood Apartments on 2nd St in Snow Hill, in reference to a subject with a firearm causing a disturbance. Greene County Deputies along with Snow Hill Police Department responded to the area. Upon arriving Deputy Sgt Phillip Heck viewed a male subject described by the caller, enter an apartment. Sgt. Heck then went to the rear of the apartment and viewed the male, later identified as 26 year old Siheem Weems of Snow Hill, exit the rear of the apartment and flee on foot, Sgt. Heck gave chase on foot as well, viewing Weems enter a vehicle to further flee. Sgt. Heck attempted to stop Weems who then backed out of the apartment parking area and then struck Sgt. Heck with the front of the vehicle. Snow Hill Police were on scene and able to give a short vehicle chase to Weems which ended on Greenacres Rd with Weems attempting to flee on foot again, but Weems was apprehended by Deputy Bobby Radford and Snow Hill Police Chief Josh Smith. Sgt. Heck was transported to the hospital by EMS and released with minor injuries.

Weems was arrested on an outstanding warrant for assault on a female, and additionally charged with Attempted Murder, Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a Government Official, and Felony Flee to Elude Arrest. Weems is currently in the Greene County Detention Center on a $225,000 secured bond.
