Four LCPS commencement exercises on tap

Nearly 500 LCPS seniors will bid farewell to high school in four commencement ceremonies.

Nearly 500 seniors will reach the milestone that is high school graduation at commencement exercises scheduled at four LCPS schools.

Graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2022 at the county’s three traditional high schools will be held in succession on Saturday, June 4. Students at Lenoir County Learning Academy will graduate earlier, on Wednesday morning.

Here are details about the four graduations:

  • Lenoir County Learning Academy: 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, at the chapel at Kennedy Home. Commencement speaker will be Felicia Solomon, a member of the Kinston City Council and LCPS’s Student Services Facilitator and Equity Officer. Outstanding Senior awards will be presented to two students. Eleven seniors will receive diplomas. No tickets are required for admission to commencement.

  • South Lenoir High School: 9 a.m. Saturday, June 4, in the school gym. Tickets are required for admission. The ceremony will also be live-streamed via You Tube. Commencement speakers will be Isabelle Vernon, senior class vice president, and Maegan Parrish, senior class treasurer. South Lenoir will graduate 156 seniors.

  • Kinston High School: 11 a.m. Saturday, June 4, in the school gym. Tickets are required for admission. Speakers will be graduating seniors Nyviair Davis and Nicholas Harvey III. The ceremony will include recognition of honor graduates, International Baccalaureate certificate and diploma candidates and NC Academic Scholars. Kinston High will graduate 134 seniors.

  • North Lenoir High School: 1 p.m. Saturday, June 4, in the gym at Lenoir Community College. Tickets are required for admission. Commencement speaker will be Dr. Christopher “Bryce” Grady, North Lenoir Class of 2008 and pharmacy manager at Medsource Pharmacy in Kinston. North Lenoir will graduate 161 seniors.

The 44 seniors in the Class of 2022 at Lenoir County Early College High School graduated May 4.
