Greene County DSS releases balloons in honor of National Child Abuse Prevention Month
Greene County Department of Social Services (DSS) held a child abuse awareness memorial ceremony on April 20, 2022. The memorial ceremony and balloon release were held at the Greene County Courthouse.
The Department of Social Services held this memorial in honor of the young lives lost due to child abuse and neglect in North Carolina. DSS honored children from Guilford, Onslow, Gaston, Forsyth, Mecklenburg, Craven, Davidson, Pitt, Vance, Wilkes, Lincoln, Cumberland, New Hanover, Nash, Randolph, Martin, Catawba, Haywood, and Harnett counties. The ages of these children ranged from 6 days old to 16 years old.
“We would rather have 10 reports that are nothing than to miss that one call.” Said Alicia Easter- Rodeberg, Guardian Ad Litem Supervisor.
