Parrott Middle School dancers get state recognition

APA’s Middle School Dance Ensemble featuring Outstanding Female Dancer Chloe Lewis in the contemporary dance “Rise Up.” 

Parrott’s middle school dancers won five trophies at the NC Scholastic Dance Festival on Feb. 4th. 

Parrott Academy’s Middle School Dance Ensemble were state runners up at the NC Scholastic Dance Festival held February 4th .  During the competition at UNC-Greensboro, the ensemble performed two works, a contemporary dance entitled “Rise Up,” and a jazz dance entitled “Snap with It.”  Both dances received Excellent Ratings. APA placed third in the jazz division and were named State Runner-Up in contemporary/lyrical dance.  They also won third place for student choreography.  

Additionally, seventh grader Chloe Lewis was named Outstanding Female Dancer for the entire festival. She was selected out of all the competing female dancers from across the state by head judge Janet Lilly, chair of the dance department at UNC-Greensboro. 

Parrott’s dancers are directed by Amanda Oakley Hort.
