South Lenoir's Rachel Noble wins National FFA Creed Speaking Competition

On Wednesday, the National FFA (Future Farmers of America) Creed Competition took place in Indianapolis, Indiana. The competition is based on writings of E.M. Tiffany (who wrote the FFA creed). The competition judges the participants on learning expectations, poised confidence, memorizing the creed, public speaking, and their answers to questions about agriculture asked by judges. The winners were announced and awarded on Thursday at the Indianapolis Colts Football Stadium and Rachel Noble from South Lenoir won first place out of 85,000 participants from around the country.

Her dad, Joseph Noble, said “Rachel has been involved with agriculture since she was young, she works on the family farm where we grow Christmas trees and raise hens.”

Rachel is the first sophomore officer of the South Lenoir FFA and been in FFA since middle school. Her future aspirations are to attend NC State to study Agriculture Engineering with a minor in Communications and become a state officer for FFA.

When Rachel isn’t participating in FFA, she is a member of the South Lenoir Cross Country and she will be a Miss Neuse participant in February.

Noble said he is “thankful for Margo Harper, Josh Singleton and that there are organizations like FFA that exist so students like Rachel can find success in agricultural education and be able to travel with events through FFA and build relationships with tri-county FFA organizations that include Greene County, North Lenoir, and Jones Senior.”

The National Creed Speaking Competition occurs every fall is open to all FFA members who are sent by their local FFA chapters.
