Early filers for upcoming 2021 Election

In Lenoir, Jones, and Greene county there are multiple seats open in the 2021 election. The dates to file for candidacy are July 2, 2021, at 12:00 pm through July 16, 2021, at 12:00 pm.

Lenoir County

Kinston Mayor Dontario Hardy filed his intent for re-election on July 6, 2021. Kinston resident James T. Sparks, Jr. filed for a seat on the City of Kinston Council, as did Kinston resident Gwendolyn M. Woods, both filed on July 6, 2021.

The current positions up for election in Lenoir County are Town of Grifton Mayor, Town of Grifton Board of Commissioner, Town of Grifton Board of Commissioner (unexpired term), (2) City of Kinston Council positions, as well as City of Kinston Mayor.

Jones County

In Jones County, Pollocksville resident James V. Bender, Jr. filed to run for the Town of Pollocksville Mayor. Trenton resident Robert Horvath filed on July 2, 2021, to run for a Town of Trenton Commissioner seat.

The current positions up for election in Jones County are Town of Maysville Mayor, Town of Maysville Commissioner, Town of Pollocksville Mayor, Town of Pollocksville Commissioner, Town of Trenton Mayor, and Town of Trenton Commissioner.

Greene County

In Greene County, Hookerton resident Robert E. Taylor filed on July 2, 2021, for Town of Hookerton Mayor.
