Dr. Saracino Gastroenterology/ Park Endoscopy Center has once again achieved accreditation by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) for the SIXTH time since 2008. Accreditation distinguishes this Endoscopy Center from many other outpatient facilities by providing the highest quality of care to its patients as determined by an independent process of evaluation.

Status as an accredited organization means Park Endoscopy Center has met nationally recognized standards for the provision of quality health care set by AAAHC. More than 6,000 ambulatory health care organizations across the United States are accredited by AAAHC. Not all ambulatory health care organizations seek accreditation; AND not all that undergo the rigorous on-site survey process are granted accreditation.

“We strive to be a center of excellence,” stated Joseph Saracino, M.D., owner and medical director of Park Endoscopy Center.  “When you see our certificate of accreditation, you will know that AAAHC, an independent, not-for-profit organization, has closely examined our facility and procedures. It means we as an organization care enough about our patients to give the highest level of care possible.”

The AAAHC Certificate of Accreditation demonstrates an organization’s commitment to provide safe, high quality services to its patients. It is recognized by third party payers, medical professional associations, liability insurance companies, state and federal agencies, and the public.

Ambulatory health care organizations seeking accreditation by AAAHC undergo an extensive self-assessment and on-site survey by AAAHC expert surveyors – physicians, nurses, and administrators who are actively involved in ambulatory health care. The survey is consultative and educational, presenting best practices to help an organization improve its care and services.

“We have a State-of the Art Endoscopy Center with the latest technology and equipment, that is well-recognized in eastern North Carolina. We have a Nurse Anesthetist who administers an anesthesia which is highly effective for maintaining the patient asleep during the procedures, especially those patients who are difficult to sedate such as those on painkillers, sleeping pills and nerve pills.  In addition, we have hired more staff to meet the increased demand of more procedures, especially colonoscopies for Colon Cancer Screening.

Dr. Saracino has been a Board-certified Gastroenterologist practicing in Kinston for the past twenty-nine years. He specializes in diseases of the Digestive System including performing Colonoscopy, Upper Endoscopy (EGD), Sigmoidoscopy, Capsule study of the small bowel and colon, PEG feeding tube replacement. His current location at 2602 N. Herritage St. was built in 2007 and houses both a medical office and the Endoscopy Center.
