UNC Lenoir press release: Leapfrog “A” for Fall 2021

UNC Lenoir Health Care has once again been awarded an “A” for our Fall 2021 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, a national distinction which recognizes that the UNC Lenoir Health Care excels at keeping patients safe from preventable harm. The Hospital Safety Grade is a letter grade assigned to all general hospitals across the country and is updated every six months, assessing how well the hospital prevents medical errors and other harm to patients.

“As a trusted member of this community UNC Lenoir Health Care strives for greater excellence each day in patient safety and our team works diligently to maintain our “A” rating,” said Robert Enders, President and CEO at UNC Lenoir.

Developed under the guidance of an Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign A, B, C, D and F grades to approximately 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year. The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public.
