The newest venue for Kinston nightlife is fully staffed and planning to have a soft opening on July 3. That evening The Office will feature the Chris Hagan Band, which has a growing reputation for live performances, hard-hitting songs, and an energetic stage presence.

“Kinston has always been home to me. I grew up in Seven Springs and have lived in the Kinston area my whole life,” said The Office manager Sarah Gooding.

On July 4, The Office will feature Dean Daughety and the Troublemakers for their grand opening. The Troublemakers were frequently featured when the spot was formerly The Red Room which closed in February. The grand opening will be followed by Jackson Frederick on July 5.

“Watching downtown change throughout the years has always been one of my favorite things. So, when I found out the Red Room was closing, I just knew we had to open something in its place,” said Gooding.

Membership fees will be $1 to be a lifetime member at The Office. Cover charge is $5 per person unless otherwise posted. The Office is a 21 and up establishment and valid identification must be shown at the door to gain entrance.

On Friday, May 22, North Carolina moved into Safer At Home Phase 2 of lifting COVID-19 restrictions, which lifted the state's stay-at-home order and allowed certain businesses to open back up or expand operations in a limited capacity.

“At this time, no decisions have been made in moving North Carolina to phase 2.5 or phase three,” said Governor Roy Cooper during a recent COVID-19 Facebook Live broadcast. Phase three allows venues for bars and entertainment to open.

The hours of operation will be Friday and Saturday evenings from 8 pm until 2 am with live music until midnight, followed by a DJ until 2 am. The Office will be open on Sundays from 11 am - 3 pm with live music on the front patio from 11 am - 2 pm. Starting in August, there will be a variety of activities for Thursday nights. Food trucks will be on-site every Friday and Saturday night.
