200 without power in City of Kinston due to morning storms

As of 10:40 a.m., approximately 200 City of Kinston utility customers are without power. According to Kinston Public Services Facebook page, “Electric crews are assessing damage due to high winds in the Hugo Rd area. Lines are down and restoration time is expected to be 2-3 hours.” We now expect the time for restoration to be about 2 hours.

The City of Kinston Public Services also stated, that “Hazardous weather is expected today. Phone lines may become congested during power outages. You may also report outages from your smart phone by visiting www.ci.kinston.nc.us and clicking the Report a Concern button.”
