Two Lenoir Community College Graphic Arts & Imaging Technology (GAIT) students, Samuel Jarman of Trenton and Chandler Patrick of Goldsboro, were recently awarded a scholarship from the Printing Industry of the Carolinas (PICA).

PICA is an association dedicated to protecting and promoting the common interest of the printing industry, and helping their members prosper, both individually and collectively, through fellowship, education and cooperative action.

The PICA scholarships are awarded to assist students who are pursuing a degree in graphic communications at community colleges in the Carolinas.

Jarman is a first-year GAIT student who was awarded the $2,000 PICA/Weese scholarship. He maintains a 4.0 GPA.

Patrick is a second-year GAIT student who was awarded the $2,000 PICA/Treadway scholarship. Chandler maintains a 3.3 GPA.

The Graphic Arts and Imaging Technology program is designed to provide students with knowledge and skills necessary for employment in the printing, publishing, packaging, and related industries. Students receive hands-on training in all phases of graphic arts including graphic design; computer graphics; web design; digital photography, and printing technologies.

The GAIT curriculum is a two-year Associate in Applied Science degree program and offers day, online, and hybrid classes.
