Two Lenoir Community College graphic students, Gregory Cox and Jonah Daniels, were recently awarded scholarships from the Printing Industry of the Carolinas (PICA). PICA is an industry association dedicated to protecting and promoting the common interest of the printing industry, and helping their members prosper, both individually and collectively, through fellowship, education, and cooperative action.

The PICA scholarships are awarded to assist students who are pursuing a degree in graphic communications at community colleges in the Carolinas.

Gregory Cox of Kinston is currently double-majoring in Graphic Arts & Imaging Technology and Advertising & Graphic Design. He currently holds a 3.8 GPA and he is expected to graduate this May. Cox was awarded the $2000 PICA/Weese scholarship.

Jonah Daniels of La Grange is also double majoring in Graphic Arts & Imaging Technology and Advertising & Graphic Design. He currently holds a 3.9 GPA and he is expected to graduate in May. Daniels was awarded the $2000 PICA/Treadway scholarship.

The Graphics program is designed to provide students with knowledge and skills necessary for employment in advertising, graphic design, marketing, printing technology, packaging, and related industries. Students receive hands-on training in all phases of graphics technology including graphic design; computer graphics; illustration, web design; photography, packaging, and printing technologies.

The Graphics program offers two Associate in Applied Science degree programs, Advertising & Graphic Design and Graphic Arts & Imaging Technology. They offer day, online, and hybrid classes. To learn more about the Graphics program, or if you have any questions, contact Dwight Downie at (252) 527-6223, ext. 604 or email ddownie@lenoircc.edu.
