One person injured in Kinston drive-by shooting

A shooting took place on Rouse Road Sunday evening, leaving 22-year old Tyshion Turnage injuried with gunshot wounds to his upper and lower limbs. Submitted photo.

The Kinston Police Department is currently investigating a shooting that occurred Sunday evening.

According to the KPD, the department responded to a call around 6:30 p.m. in the 2000 Block of Rouse Road, along with the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office, Kinston Fire Department and Lenoir County EMS. Officers found 22-year old Kinston resident Tyshion Turnage suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper and lower limbs. Turnage and a juvenile were walking along the roadway when shots were fired at Turnage by an unknown individual from a vehicle.

The juvenile was unharmed and Turnage was transported to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville for treatment. The wounds aren't perceived as life-threatening.

Initial indications are the assault appears to be a targeted attack on Turnage and not a random act of violence.
