Help wanted: Neuse News independent correspondent

Do you enjoy local news? Have you ever thought about becoming a writer? Do you want to help make a difference in our community? If so, Neuse News is looking for you!

Neuse News continues to expand and is searching for qualified candidate(s) to become independent correspondent(s) with the organization. We’re looking for experienced and/or aspiring writers to cover local news, local government, breaking news, features and more in Lenoir, Greene and Jones counties and surrounding communities.

We’re looking for talent that is proactive, quick and trustworthy. Some local travel may be required. You will be able to work from your home and/or our office. We prefer social media and video experience, but those skills are not required.

This role will require one to gather and verify factual information through interviews, observations, social media use and research. Excellent writing skills, editing skills, proficiency in grammar and attention to detail are a must.

You will learn the craft from award-winning journalists and social media experts who are heavily invested in this community. You will not only become a better journalist, you will help disseminate accurate and timely information to your community.

Valid driver’s license and willingness to submit to random drug testing are required for the position.
