LCC holding two graduation ceremonies this week

In order to allow for more guest participation, Lenoir Community College is having two graduation ceremonies for its 2019 degree-holders. 

“The Transitional and Career Studies graduation will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the LCC Gymnasium,” LCC Director of Marketing, Recruiting and Communications Richy Huneycut said.

Practice will be held that morning at 10 a.m. The curriculum big graduation will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 9 at the LCC Gymnasium. Graduates will line up in cap and gown in the courtyard approximately one hour before the ceremony.

Nicholas E. Harvey II is the commencement speaker at the LCC Transitional and Career Studies graduation celebrating the 2019 high school equivalency (GED) and Adult High School graduates. The program will begin at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday at the LCC gym. Admission is by ticket only.

Harvey is currently the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services and Operations of Lenoir County Public Schools and has devoted much of his career in serving in various capacities with the school system.

The Honorable Judge Imelda J. Pate will be the commencement speaker at LCC’s 57th graduation at 7 p.m., Thursday in the LCC gym; again, admission is by ticket only. Pate was sworn in as the first female superior court judge elected in Lenoir County in January 2017. She completed her undergraduate degree at N.C. State University in 1980 and graduated from Campbell University’s Norman A. Wiggins School of Law in 1983.
