Collision with driver, KPD vehicle occurred off MLK Blvd.

A collision between a driver of a Geo Prism and a Kinston Police Department vehicle happened around 2:48 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd. and Washington Ave.

KPD Major Tim Dilday said officers were responding to a call of two individuals firing shots around Charlotte Ave. As officers made their way to the area, one collided with a driver.

The officer and citizen were taken to UNC Lenoir Health Care and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The N.C. Highway Patrol is conducting further investigations.
