The Lenoir/Greene United Way hosted a Mardi Gras-themed gala for members of its Schechter Leadership Society March 21 at the Community Council for the Arts.

The annual gala pays tribute to community members whose generous investments support our local United Way. The leadership society with benefactors of an annual gift of $500 or more is named for Sol Schechter; his wife, Pearl, has continued his legacy and is a tremendous supporter of Lenoir/Greene United Way.

Attendees were treated to a three-course meal prepared by Upstairs at the Market Chef, Scot Elden, as well as homemade King Cakes prepared by Seraphim Smith. Table centerpieces were provided by Rider Florist and given as gifts to guests. Special music was provided by Adam Ormond.

Along with the Community Council for the Arts, the following sponsored the event: Kinston-Lenoir County Chamber of Commerce; Wallace, Morris, Barwick, Landis & Stroud, P.A.; West Pharmaceuticals; Seraphim Smith; Scot and Barbara Elden; Rider Florist; and Carolina Finance, LLC.
