Early voting plans set for Lenoir, Greene County

An early voting plan has been initiated in Lenoir and Greene County.

Due to an inability for the local boards to come to a unanimous decision, the State Board of Elections intervened with a conference call Thursday. Early voting will be from April 10 through the 26th for the primary elections as candidates look for the U.S. House of Representatives District 3 seat.

In Lenoir County, the Cooperative Extension Office, Teachers Memorial Gym and La Grange Community Building will be the sites for Lenoir County, as Tanglewood Church, Pink Hill Rescue and Carver Court Recreational Room won’t be used. The sites will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. There will be no Sunday voting or voting on Friday, April 19 which is a holiday.

In Greene County, the Election Office will be the lone place for early voting. On weekdays, the site will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., including Friday, April 19. Greene County will have the site open on Sunday, April 14 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, April 20 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The voter registration deadline for both counties is Friday, April 5 at 5 p.m. The absentee request deadline is Tuesday, April 23.
