Two LCC administrators finalists for James Sprunt CC President
A pair of Lenoir Community College administrators are finalists for another position.
Dr. Deborah Grimes and Dr. Jay Carraway are two of four qualified individuals who could become President of James Sprunt Community College in Kenansville. Trustees from the institution believe a president will be named by April.
Grimes, who currently serves as the senior vice president of instruction and student services at LCC, said she's excited for the opportunity.
"I think it's a culmination of everything I've learned as a leader and manager over the years," Grimes said. "It feels great knowing the board members believe in me as a finalist, and I've got 30 years of experience in education.
"I'm all about the students and working with the community. I understand the importance of living in the community I work in and I hope to expand on what they have if I'm able to.
Carraway is the vice president of continuing education, said it's an honor to be a finalist.
"I look forward to the next meeting with the Board of Trustees, and getting to know the students and staff," Carraway said. "Professionally, I believe I'm prepared. I've been in this field since 1984 and love to help in the success of the community I serve. I'm thankful for the Board's consideration and hope to land the opportunity."
