The following restaurant inspections were conducted by the Lenoir County Health Department:

Harmony Hall Nursing and Rehab

312 Warren Ave., Kinston 28501
Score: 95
Inspection date: 7/5/18
Observations:
Employee sneezed and continued working without washing hands;
Some dishes had food residue on them;
Ham in walk-in (refrigerator) was 56F - must be at or below 45F;
Meat thawing in sink did not have running water over it and was 70F - should not go above 45F during the thawing process;
Several flies in kitchen;
Wet wiping cloths laying on carts and tables - must be kept in sanitizer between uses;
Floors, walls and ceilings need additional cleaning;
Cracked tiles need to be repaired;


Galaxy Skating Center

4010 West Vernon Avenue, Kinston

Inspection date: 7/10/18
Observations: 
No certified food protection manager present - repeat violation;
Sanitizer in spray bottle was too strong;
Hot dog and pizzas were less than 135F - must be at or above 135F;
Bottom and sides of reach-in freezer are rusty;
Ceiling tiles above two-compartment sink are stained and breaking;

Baked chicken in warming cabinet was 115F - 120F - must be at or above 135F;
Several flies in kitchen;
Bottom of reach-in freezer needs additional cleaning;
Area where light fixture was (once mounted) left holes and peeling paint;


Jamshack Jamaican Restaurant

Observations:
No certified food protection manager present;
Person in charge does not know proper food handling;
Children in kitchen at time of inspection;
Employee did not wash hands upon entering kitchen or when changing tasks;
Hand-sinks in kitchen and restroom did not have hand towels available;
Employee did not know steps to dish washing;
Cabbage and curry goat was less than 135F - must be 135F or better;
Chicken, cheese, oxtail, and rice in walk-in were not date marked;
Oxtail in walk-in had mold on it;
Wet wiping cloths laying on drain boards;
Sanitizer water in wiping cloth bucket was soiled - repeat violation;
Dirty take-out trays stored under well;
Rusty shelving needs to be repaired;
Dishes were being washed in two-compartment prep sink - must be washed in three-compartment dish sink;
No test strips available;
Shelving, inside/outside of equipment, HVAC vents, and food containers need additional cleaning - repeat violation;
No trash cans provided at prep sinks;
Floors, walls and ceilings need additional cleaning;

Ensure all toxic substances are properly labeled;
Wet wiping cloth laying on counter and sanitizer in wiping cloth bucket was not strong enough;
Salad bowls are getting chipped/rough;
Grease trap leaks water on floor when water is drained out of sinks;
Ceiling tiles in kitchen are not smooth and easily cleanable - must be vinyl coated - repeat violation;

Water in sanitizer bucket was soiled;
Rear door to ladies room self-closure is broken;

Salad bowls were stored exposed - store inverted or in plastic to prevent contamination;
Carts outside of equipment and refrigerator unit below raw chicken need additional cleaning;
Dumpster lid was open;
Holes in walls and cracked tiles need to be repaired/replaced to keep them smooth and easily cleanable;
Wall and ceiling above and behind lemonade mixers and chili well need additional cleaning;
