SETRAC Grants can be applied through Dec. 19
The deadline for SETRAC Grants is Dec. 19 at noon.
The Special Events and Tourism Related Activities Committee grant program — administered by the Kinston-Lenoir County Tourism Development Authority and Kinston-Lenoir County Convention — will continue taking applications at the Kinston-Lenoir County Chamber of Commerce, located on N. Queen Street, until Dec. 19. A group will deliberate on where funding will go and grants will be awarded druing the first TDA board meeting of 2019, which will be held at the Chamber Jan. 22 at 3 p.m.
The SETRAC grants are used to help assist Kinston and Lenoir County agencies in the enhancement, promotion and marketing of tourism and culturally related events.
“Each year, the board allocates about $90,000 over two separate cycles,” Kinston-Lenoir County Chamber of Commerce assistant executive director Jan Parson said. “More than half went through during the first cycle and the funds are at the board’s discretion toward how much goes where.
“We’re one of the few counties in the state where occupancy tax money can be used for capital funding. Many of our local attractions such as the Kinston Music Park, CSS Neuse Museum and Arts Center have been assisted by these types of grants.”
