Justin Holloway, Kinston, football

Holloway helped the Vikings remain undefeated with a 13-7 overtime win over Ayden-Grifton in the first round of the NCHSAA 2A state playoffs on Nov. 16. The senior ran for 89 yards on 16 carries and had a game-winning 10-yard touchdown.

What Kinston means to him: it has meant a lot, especially waiting for his moment to shine on the football field since middle school

Virginia Edmondson, Arendell Parrott, basketball

Edmondson helped the Patriots pick up a convincing season-opening win over John Paul II on Nov. 13. The sophomore scored 18 points in the 67-14 victory, which doubled as her first game with APA after transferring from Spring Creek.
