After missing one game, Thompson came back with a vengeance on Oct. 5 against Rocky Mount Academy. The senior had 267 yards of offense, including 224 on the ground and two touchdowns as the Patriots defeated the Eagles 46-28.

Madison Holloman, Greene Central, girls’ tennis

Holloman picked up a pair of wins in the Rams 9-0 victory over North Lenoir Oct. 1, helping to propel Greene Central to its 25th consecutive conference title. The senior won her singles match 6-0, 6-0 before teaming up with Allana Head to get an 8-2 doubles victory.
