Obituary - Cecil C. Conner
Mr. Cecil C. Conner, age 86, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, November 30, 2024, at his home surrounded by his beloved wife and family. Funeral Services will be held at the Mausoleum Chapel of Pinelawn Memorial Park 11 AM Tuesday, December 3rd. The family will greet friends and extended relatives immediately following the service.
Dr. Mahari Freeman to Return as Soprano Soloist for Handel’s “Messiah”
The Kinston/Lenoir Community Chorus is thrilled to welcome back Dr. Mahari Freeman as the soprano soloist for the 24th annual performance of Handel’s Messiah on Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. This cherished community tradition will take place at First Presbyterian Church, 2101 N. Herritage St., accompanied by the North Carolina Baroque Orchestra.

Greene County honors Commissioner James T. Shackleford, Jr. for 24 years of service
At a recent Board of Commissioners meeting, Greene County honored Commissioner James T. Shackleford, Jr. for 24 years of dedicated service. Commissioner Shackleford, who has served on the Board since 2000, was presented with a commemorative plaque and a heartfelt resolution recognizing his many contributions to the county.
Makudupanyane Senaoana Returns as Tenor Soloist for Handel’s “Messiah”
The Kinston/Lenoir Community Chorus is delighted to announce the return of internationally acclaimed tenor Makudupanyane Senaoana for its 24th annual performance of Handel’s Messiah on Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. The performance will take place at First Presbyterian Church, 2101 N. Herritage St., with accompaniment by the North Carolina Baroque Orchestra.
LCC Student Awarded Gail B. Reynolds Scholarship
Lenoir Community College practical nursing student Hannah Ball of Deep Run was recently awarded the Gail B. Reynolds Scholarship. The scholarship was established in memory of Gail B. Reynolds by her husband, Robert Reynolds.

To some brown butter is not new, years ago I had brown butter oysters on the half shell at Chef and the Farmer and they were so delicious, I set out to try to replicate, which of course, I could not, but I did learn all about brown butter in the process.
