Emmitt Robinson “Bobby” Davis, Jr., 84, was welcomed to life eternal on August 14, 2024, while surrounded by his loving family in the comfort of his home. A service to celebrate and honor Bobby’s life will be held on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. in the Munn Gymnasium on the Emmitt R. “Bobby” Davis Sports Complex at South Lenoir High School. The family will receive friends following the service. A service of committal will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, August 19, 2024, at Pinelawn Memorial Park.

On 08/16/2024 at 3:20am SHPD was dispatched to the Speedway located at 1102 Kingold Blvd. to investigate a reported armed robbery. SHPD arrived on scene at 3:21am. Deputies with Greene County Sheriff's Office also responded to assist.

Stewart William Smith, also known as “Stuball”, age 82, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at his home in Kinston. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on Monday, August 19, 2024 at Howard-Carter Funeral Home with funeral service beginning at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow the service at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
