SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED – Lenoir Community College associate degree nursing student Alysha Collins of Pollocksville was recently awarded the Gail B. Reynolds Scholarship. Greene Central High School is shining a spotlight on one of its outstanding educators, Lilibeth Galue, who brings 24 years of teaching experience to the classroom, marking her 10th year in America. Galue serves as a class teacher for Spanish, catering to both native and non-native speakers, and ESL, while also contributing as the Juntos coordinator for the third consecutive year.

James "Jim" McLain of Kinston, NC passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on November 11, 2023. A Liturgy of the Word Service will be held in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel, at 2pm on Thursday, November 16, 2023.
This past Friday I had the opportunity to attend the Open House for Art 105, take a closer look at the art on display and spend some time talking with the artists about their work to learn more about who they are. On Sunday, November 12, 2023, members of the Colorado Springs Police Department apprehended Lewis without incident while investigating an unrelated matter. Lewis is being held in their jurisdiction pending extradition back to Kinston, where he will face Armed Robbery charges.

Lenoir Hospital Foundation recently provided funding to support five recipients with scholarships and an award, assisting with college and continuing education for individuals pursuing pathways for healthcare careers and personal growth.
The life and times of Gov. Richard Caswell will be the subject of a celebration planned for Saturday, Nov. 18, at the Gov. Richard Caswell Memorial in Kinston. This living history will highlight Caswell’s long service as a political and military leader – both when North Carolina was a British Colony and later as a fledgling state.
