June is National Cancer Survivor Month. According to the CDC, over eighteen million cancer survivors live in the United States. This includes over 165,000 men, women and children living in North Carolina. A cancer survivor is someone diagnosed with any type of cancer who is still living.

U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development North Carolina State Director Reginald Speight today announced the availability of grants to help rural and Tribal communities repair water infrastructure damaged by presidentially declared disaster Hurricane Ian in calendar year 2022.
I spent the second semester of this past school year teaching English online for a Christian academy. My ninth and tenth graders were a mix of students enrolled in the virtual academy and students who attended other Christian schools that lacked sufficient numbers of high school students to justify the expense of hiring a teacher for each subject area.

Ronald (Ron) Charles Anderson, 80, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed away Friday, June 23, 2023 at Mercy Medical Center surrounded by his family. The family will receive friends at Teahan Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 28th at 10 a.m., followed by the memorial service at 11 a.m. A private burial will take place at Hala Cemetery in Amana, Iowa at a later time.
