Law enforcement officers and Special Olympic athletes team up to carry "Flame of Hope"

The Law Enforcement Torch Run® (LETR) for Special Olympics is the largest year-round public awareness and grass-roots fundraising campaign for Special Olympics. Known as Guardians of the Flame, law enforcement members and Special Olympics athletes carry the Flame of Hope into the Opening Ceremony of local competitions, and into Special Olympics State, National, Regional and World Games.

Obituary: Donald DeVeau

Like the gentleman he’s known to be, Donald DeVeau quietly and peacefully departed from his hard-working body to enter the joys of heavenly living. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 10am at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church. A reception will follow in Mosley Hall.

Obituary: Billy Ray Brown

Billy Ray Brown, 80, of Deep Run, entered the arms of Jesus and his wife Pat, on Saturday, May 6th, 2023 at his home. Visitation will be from 11:00-12:00 on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at Tanglewood Church of God in Kinston, followed by A Celebration of Life Service at 1200. Graveside service will follow at Westview Cemetery. The family will also receive visitors at the home of Mr. Brown on Wednesday, May 10th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.

Obituary: Robert Glenn Hardee

Robert Glenn Hardee, 84, of Kinston, North Carolina passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 7, 2023. Friends and family are invited to attend a celebratory service on Wednesday, May 10 at 7:00 pm with family visitation at 6:00 pm at Kinston First PH Church, 711 Phillips Road, Kinston. A graveside service will be conducted Thursday at 11am in the mausoleum at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
