The Annual Plan of the Housing Authority of the City of Kinston North Carolina is available for review for 45 days beginning August 1, 2022 at the Central Office of the Authority located at 608 North Queen Street, Kinston, North Carolina and all Public Housing Manager’s Offices.
On 07/18/2022 at 1:30am Officer Harper observed a vehicle in the area of Greenridge Road committing a traffic violation. Harper followed the vehicle, noticed suspicious activity and initiated a traffic stop. During the investigation, Harper developed probable cause to search the vehicle and detained the driver.
Bobby Coombs, 86, also known as “Blue Nose” of Kinston passed away peacefully on Friday, July 15, 2022. Visitation will be held at 11am on Thursday, July 21, 2022, with funeral services to follow at 12 noon.

The water consumers of Jones County Regional Water System, in Jones County on Caswell Station Rd. and British Rd. including all side roads will be experiencing periods of low pressure and outages in the distribution system starting on July 19th, 2022 due to waterline construction. Periods of low or no pressure in the distribution system increases the potential for back siphonage and introduction of bacteria into the water system.

Lenoir Community College graduate Denise Chatman of Kinston was excited to complete her Associate Degree Nursing Program and become a Registered Nurse, but her road was not easy.
On Friday, August 5, and Saturday, August 6, the CSS Neuse Interpretative Center will host its fourth annual dinner theater focusing on female spies during the Civil War. Last year the dinner theater drew more than 160 guests, so organizers decided to host the program for two nights this year to prevent crowding.

Martha Inez Queen Barrett, 91, finished her course in faith and was graciously received into her Lord’s presence on Friday, July 15, 2022. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Sunday, July 24, 2022 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home in La Grange. A graveside service will be held at a later date from Clover Hill United Methodist Church in Lawndale, NC.
