NWS Morehead City: Potential Tropical Cyclone (PTC) One to bring strong rip currents next week
Advisories have started on PTC One in the southern Gulf of Mexico, which is expected to become Tropical Storm Alex later today. This system is expected to pass through southern Florida and then emerge into the Atlantic and pass several hundred miles south of NC Sunday.
NCDHHS helps families participating in WIC during infant formula shortage
Families participating in the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) can now purchase more sizes and types of Gerber formula thanks to efforts by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services to support families during the ongoing infant formula shortage. North Carolina contracts with Gerber to provide WIC recipients standard types of infant formula, and the sizes and types of formula available to purchase were previously more limited for WIC-participating families.

Two polls taken of North Carolina voters right after the May 17 primary showed Republican Ted Budd leading Democrat Cheri Beasley in the pivotal 2022 race for U.S. Senate. They also show it’s too soon to count Beasley out.

Mayor proposes 9pm curfew for all Kinston youth
The current City of Kinston Youth Protection Ordinance places restriction on juveniles during the hours of 11:00 pm and 5:30 am Sunday through Saturday. Mayor Dontario Hardy proposes to amend and enforce the Youth Protection Ordinance in response to the heightened level of crime experienced by the city. Councilmember Chris Suggs voiced his concerns about the Youth Protection Ordinance on a Facebook Live Wednesday evening.

Charity ride benefiting RADD on Saturday
On June 4, 2022, a charity motorcycle ride starting at Boneyard Harley-Davidson in Winterville will parade in Kinston through Caswell Developmental Center and Spring Arbor. The ride will benefit RADD (Raising Awareness for the Developmentally Disabled).

Update: Pedestrian struck by a vehicle dies from injuries
The pedestrian was taken to UNC Lenoir and later to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. On Monday, May 30, 2022, the pedestrian died as a result from the injuries he sustained from being struck by the vehicle.
