On February 21, 2025, Kinston Police Department’s D-Squad responded to a reported theft in progress on the 300 block of Boy Scout Boulevard. While enroute, officers received a description of the suspect and their vehicle.
On February 21, 2025, KPD’s B-Squad officers conducted a traffic stop in the 1600 block of W Vernon Avenue. During the stop, officers made contact with the occupants when the passenger, Omarion Lewis (22, Trenton, NC), began reaching around the vehicle before throwing a handgun onto the dashboard.

Cypress Creek Renewables (Cypress Creek) is pleased to announce the continuation of its Energizing Tomorrow’s Leaders scholarship program. Governor Josh Stein announced that the Rural Infrastructure Authority (RIA) has approved 13 grant requests to local governments totaling $9,627,500. The grants include commitments creating a total of 785 jobs, 414 of which were previously announced. The public investment in these projects will attract more than $165.9 million in public and private investment.
