Upon arrival, the store clerk informed officers that the suspect, later identified as 47-year-old Bernard Bowden JR of Kinston, attempted to purchase alcohol after hours.

On 01/24/2025 at 10:20 a.m. Officers with the Kinston Police Department, responded to the area of 2400 block of N. Herritage St. regarding a gunshot victim. The victim was taken to Vidant Medical Center via ground unit. Investigations and crime lab responded to the scene and began investigating the incident.
