On January 10, 2025, the Kinston Police Department was notified of an assault on a 6-year-old child by LCPS Central Office . Officers spoke with the child's parents, who had been informed of the incident by Northwest Elementary School. The officers were told that the child's substitute teacher, Martha Jones (69, of Kinston), had hit their child.
The Kinston Police Department is requesting assistance from the public in locating Bryson Bradley, 21 years old, who is wanted in connection with the murder of Korie Williams on September 20, 2024. On January 11, 2025, at approximately 7:59 PM, officers from B-Squad initiated a traffic stop on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard for an insurance violation and failure to maintain lane control. During the stop, officers made contact with the driver, Wilson Murphy, 49, of Kinston, and suspected he was impaired.
