On Saturday, November 30, Jumping Run Church of La Grange demonstrated the power of love in action at the Circle K in Kinston, NC. The church blessed 200 vehicles with $15 worth of gas each, spreading kindness and support to the community.

Bucklesberry: First Inhabitants
Challenges and risks awaited early eighteenth century settlers who arrived in the unsettled Bucklesberry Pocosin of then old Craven County. According to historian and author Dr. Lindley S. Butler, PhD, "The backcountry was the last area of the State to be settled and, consequently, the most volatile region of North Carolina society for many years."

LCSO: Kinston man arrested on felony counts for vehicle break-ins
A man accused of breaking into vehicles and outbuildings on Bonnie Walters Road and then taking the change to an area Coinstar exchange machine was arrested Thursday morning.

An 18-year-old was arrested Sunday on Mays Store Road in La Grange for larceny of a firearm.

At a recent Board of Commissioners meeting, Greene County honored Commissioner James T. Shackleford, Jr. for 24 years of dedicated service. Commissioner Shackleford, who has served on the Board since 2000, was presented with a commemorative plaque and a heartfelt resolution recognizing his many contributions to the county.
Makudupanyane Senaoana Returns as Tenor Soloist for Handel’s “Messiah”
The Kinston/Lenoir Community Chorus is delighted to announce the return of internationally acclaimed tenor Makudupanyane Senaoana for its 24th annual performance of Handel’s Messiah on Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. The performance will take place at First Presbyterian Church, 2101 N. Herritage St., with accompaniment by the North Carolina Baroque Orchestra.

To some brown butter is not new, years ago I had brown butter oysters on the half shell at Chef and the Farmer and they were so delicious, I set out to try to replicate, which of course, I could not, but I did learn all about brown butter in the process.
