Edwards Funeral Home hosts breakfast for first responders

Edwards Funeral Home hosted a breakfast on September 12, 2024, to honor and thank local first responders for their service to the community. The event, held at the funeral home, was part of an ongoing effort by the business to show appreciation for those who serve in roles such as police officers, firefighters, emergency medical services (EMS), and the communications office.

Timothy Sanderson celebrated as LCPS Beginning Teacher of the Year

On a usual day, Mr. Timothy Sanderson can usually be found at Contentnea-Savannah K-8 School, teaching fifth-grade students the basics of energy, ecosystems and everything else that makes up a 5th-grade science class. That’s where the Lenoir County Public Schools leadership team found him Wednesday morning, helping students quiz each other on new vocabulary they’ve learned. 

Downtown board approves $25,000 for Façade Grants program

The Downtown Kinston Revitalization Board approved $25,000 in funds at its August meeting to support the Building Improvement Façade Grant. This matching grant program is designed to assist property owners within the Municipal Service District (MSD) in making improvements to the exterior of their buildings, encouraging investment and maintaining the appearance of the downtown area.
