NCDOT drops plan to remove traffic lights on Queen Street

The North Carolina Department of Transportation has dropped its plan to remove several traffic lights on Queen Street in Kinston after residents and city council members expressed concerns at a public hearing. While DOT argued that the removal would improve traffic flow, opponents cited potential problems for pedestrians and handicapped individuals.

Bucklesberry, Back in the Day: Name Not So Unique

The Bucklesberry farm community does not hold a registered trademark on its name, unusual as it is. And it certainly is not the first to have this name. Not so unique, there are a number of places in North Carolina and across the pond (England) with variations of the same name, including "Buckleberry," "Bucklebury," "Bucklersbury," "Bucklesbury," and "Bucklesberie."

Downtown Kinston Social District Ribbon Cutting

The City of Kinston is excited to announce the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony celebrating the opening of the Downtown Kinston Social District. The event will take place Wednesday, July 3rd, at 11:00 AM. The event will take place at the corner of W. North and N. Queen Street, with remarks by elected officials followed by the ribbon cutting at 11:15 AM.
