Lenoir Community College Graphic Arts program is offering two new online certificates starting this summer semester. The certificates, Graphic & Digital Design and Digital Photo & Design, are created to equip students with the skills and knowledge in digital design, imaging technology, packaging, photography, social media marketing, UX/UI, as well as training in industry-leading Adobe applications such as Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
The 7th annual "Stride to Fight Diabetes Walk-A-Thon," was an event dedicated to raising awareness and funds for those affected by diabetes. Organized by a local non-profit committee "Lions Making Strides 2 Fight Diabetes," the event was a collaborative effort involving several key community partners, including the Kinston Host Lions Club, Kinston Community Center, Lions Industries for the Blind, Inc., UNC-Lenoir, and Southwood Memorial Christian Church.
The volunteer fire departments of Deep Run, Pink Hill, Southwood and Sandy Bottom are on the scene of a working grain bin fire on Live Oak Hog Co Road in Deep Run. Multiple firefighters are actively working to extinguish the fire, which started inside one of the grain towers.
Raleigh, N.C. - The state’s seasonally adjusted February 2024 unemployment rate was 3.5 percent, unchanged from January’s revised rate. The national rate increased 0.2 of a percentage point to 3.9 percent.
In Jones County, Beverly Hines stands as a beacon of community involvement and dedication. At 60, Hines' roles span from being a Media Specialist at Jones Senior High School to holding key positions in local organizations, including Secretary at Jones County Community Hope and Secretary of St. Stephen Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ. Furthermore, she is the owner of Simply Grants, a testament to her commitment to fostering growth and development within her community.
A Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office deputy received 18 staples in his head after breaking up a fight between students on a school bus this morning.
