Operation: Monday Morning Kitten Rescue

A kitten found itself trapped beneath a grade covering the Arts Council’s basement windows Monday Morning. The Neuse News team tried to coax the kitten out but had no success. Assistance arrived from Kinston Police Department's Animal Control Officer Danny Daughtey and Sergeant Sam McLawhorn, who, alongside another Good Samaritan, managed to lift the hefty grate and free the kitten. The officers took the kitten to the Lenoir County SPCA, for potential adoption.

La Grange Public Library receives grant for small and rural libraries to assist patrons with disabilities

The La Grange Public Library, a member of Neuse Regional Libraries, has been selected as one of 240 libraries to participate in Libraries Transforming Communities: Accessible Small and Rural Communities, an American Library Association (ALA) initiative that provides community engagement and accessibility resources to small and rural libraries to help them better serve people with disabilities.

Restored Hope Boutique Grand Opening

On Wednesday, Restored Hope Boutique had its grand opening. The boutique, located at 124 N Queen St., is a part of Hope Restorations. The grand opening started with a tour of the House of Hope for Women then the ribbon-cutting ceremony took place at the boutique afterward.
