Linda Rouse Sutton is a woman who has made significant contributions to Lenoir County. As the Lenoir County Commissioner Chair, Sutton has taken on numerous leadership roles and has played an essential part in positive changes in the community. “A female always has to prove herself first before even beginning to become effective,” said Sutton. “Some are very receptive, and others believe women have no place in politics.”

Talisa Joyner: A small business owner making a big impact

March is Women's History Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the vital role of women in American history. Talisa Joyner, is a small business owner and influential figure in the community. Talisa is the founder of Adelphe Christian Sorority, Inc., which has collaborated with Greene County Schools to provide free Wi-Fi hotspots to underprivileged students. They have also donated food, clothing, and games to Kinston's homeless shelter.

Greene County Sheriff's Office: Vehicle chase ends in arrest

On Thursday, March 16th, 2023 around 11:40 pm Greene County Deputies attempted to stop a vehicle for a stop sign violation at Hwy 903 S and Hull Rd, which lead to a vehicle chase in the Arba area. After chasing the vehicle into Lenoir County, then back into Greene County, the driver, who was later identified as 41 year old Kevin Johnson from the Arba area, abandoned the vehicle near his home and fled into the woods.
