Ten buildings at Simon Bright Apartments demolished to ease congestion
The Kinston Housing Authority (KHA) is demolishing 80 of the 224 units, or ten buildings at Simon Bright Apartments. The Corbett group out of Goldsboro is doing the demolition.
Board of Elections Director Steve Hines to resign
Lenoir County Board of Elections Director Steve Hines is resigning as the director and will be moving to Florida. Hines began his tenure as the director in January of 2020.

Chris Humphrey (R – Lenoir, Greene, Jones) to serve as the Chairman of the House Committee on Insurance, and as a member of Agriculture, Appropriations, Appropriations - Agriculture and Natural and Economic Resources, Disaster Recovery and Homeland Security, and Health committees.

On Tuesday, Paige King Johnson spoke to North Lenoir agricultural science and music students as part of her Got To Be NC tour. The North Carolina native grew up on a livestock farm and has a passion for agriculture and music.
Food Farm Printers to close for all outside business
Food Farm Printers announced they will be closing down to all outside business in the next few weeks. Located at 108 E. Washington Avenue in Kinston, the printing service sent out an email to their local clients announcing their intent to close.
LCPS technology director White wins regional honor, in line for state award
Charles White backed into a career in computers and technology. Going forward, he’s a candidate for an award honoring the state’s best public school technology director.
Senior at Arendell Parrott Academy spent a week as page to Governor Roy Cooper
Mr. Randy Lamont (R.J.) Cummings, a senior at Parrott Academy, recently completed a week as page to Governor Cooper. During the week, Mr. Cummings created a policy proposal for the Department of Environmental Quality
Royal Farms is coming to Kinston
In November, Royal Farms announced their expansion into North Carolina with plans to open its first location in early 2023. The cities named were New Bern, Greenville, Lumberton, Kinston, and Jacksonville.
