On Tuesday, North Carolina House Speaker Tim Moore re-appointed Rep. Chris Humphrey (R – Lenoir, Greene, Jones) to serve as the Chairman of the House Committee on Insurance, and as a member of Agriculture, Appropriations, Appropriations - Agriculture and Natural and Economic Resources, Disaster Recovery and Homeland Security, and Health committees.

On Tuesday, Paige King Johnson spoke to North Lenoir agricultural science and music students as part of her Got To Be NC tour. The North Carolina native grew up on a livestock farm and has a passion for agriculture and music.
Food Farm Printers to close for all outside business
Food Farm Printers announced they will be closing down to all outside business in the next few weeks. Located at 108 E. Washington Avenue in Kinston, the printing service sent out an email to their local clients announcing their intent to close.

Charles White backed into a career in computers and technology. Going forward, he’s a candidate for an award honoring the state’s best public school technology director.

Mr. Randy Lamont (R.J.) Cummings, a senior at Parrott Academy, recently completed a week as page to Governor Cooper. During the week, Mr. Cummings created a policy proposal for the Department of Environmental Quality
Royal Farms is coming to Kinston
In November, Royal Farms announced their expansion into North Carolina with plans to open its first location in early 2023. The cities named were New Bern, Greenville, Lumberton, Kinston, and Jacksonville.

The philosophy of a shave and a haircut
Paul Sugg, owner of EastPoint Prosthetics & Orthotics in Kinston, had a unique idea for his dissertation in Philosophy at Bethany Divinity College and Seminary. He had the expectation that people would treat him differently because he grew his hair and beard out. Over the course of the next year, some people lived up to his expectations, and some surprised him.

Farmer's Market Update for January 14, 2023
Kettle Style Snacks will continue to be at the Farmers Market through the winter months. Rodney will be on site from 9:00 until 5:00 Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, selling pork skins, pork rinds, fried peanuts AND those very delicious funnel cakes.
The Filling Station receives $75,000 grant from Chick-fil-A
The Filling Station has been named a 2023 Chick-fil-A True Inspiration Award grant recipient! We have received $75,000 to further our work in Jones County, NC
