The Unicoi County Sheriff’s Office arrested former Lenoir County resident Tyler Lee Owens, 29, on Monday. He was charged with second-degree murder, tampering with evidence, abuse of a corpse, evading arrest, among other charges. The victim’s name has not been released at this time. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is helping the sheriff’s office with the investigation.

On Sunday, August 23, 2015, just prior to 9:30 pm, Kaneesha Robinson was walking on Hyman Avenue with friends when a vehicle drove by and an unknown person shot out of the vehicle, striking and killing Kaneesha Robinson. Investigators do not believe Kaneesha Robinson was the intended target of the shooting. Kaneesha Robinson was 23 years old when she was murdered.

An arrest has been made in the shooting that occurred last night on the 500 block of Mitchell St. Malik Dyshaun Bryant, 24, of Kinston NC was arrested and charged an open count of murder and two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder. The Kinston Police Department responded to a call at about 8:45 pm to the 500 block of Mitchell Street in reference to someone shot. When they arrived, they found three male subjects who had been shot. One subject passed away due to injuries and the other two were transported to Vidant for treatment.
On Thursday, January 13th, 2022, Investigators with the Kinston Police Department received information related to the murder of Timothy Nobles that occurred on May 31st, 2015. Subsequently, Investigators with the Kinston Police Department were able to obtain an arrest warrant on Marquez Outlaw, 32, of Kinston for his involvement in the homicide. Outlaw was arrested on Friday January 14th, 2022, without incident and charged with murder. He was placed in the Lenoir County Detention Center under no bond.
On Saturday, January 15, 2022, at approximately 2:06 am, officers from the Kinston Police Department responded to Dr. MLK Jr. Blvd., near Thompson Street in reference to a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased female in the street.

On December 29, 2021, at approximately 1:08 am, KPD officers responded to reports of gunfire in the area of the 500 block of East Shine Street. Officers arrived in the area and observed two groups of people shooting at each other.
