On Wednesday, January 3rd, 2024, Taquan Travontah Jakel Darden pled guilty to the murder of Nathaniel Crawford. Darden received a 240-300 month active sentence regarding the murder, followed by a consecutive 64-89 month active sentence stemming from a robbery case that occurred within the county.

On Sunday, November 27th, 2022, members of the Kinston Police Department obtained a warrant for arrest for Taquan Darden, 18, of Kinston for his involvement in the murder of Nathaniel Crawford, 22, of Kinston.
