North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey announced the arrest of Felicia Bryant, 46, of La Grange. Bryant was charged with insurance fraud, a felony. According to the arrest warrant, Bryant filed a new vehicle damage claim with Geico when the damage had previously been reported to Allstate.
On May 25, Benjamin Medeiros was arrested in New Bedford, Massachusetts for warrants with charges of first degree rape (3 counts) and indecent liberties with a child (3 counts). Medeiros will be processed to be extradited back to North Carolina for these charges.
On May 1, 2020, the victims of years of sexual assault reported crimes against them to the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office. As a result of the investigation, Christopher Canuette was arrested Tuesday afternoon and charged with seven (7) counts of 1st degree statutory sex offense. Canuette was placed in the Lenoir County Jail under a $500,000 secured bond.
